Humilladero

Humilladero has an excellent selection of tapas bars and restaurants and is perfectly situated for visiting historic highlights such as Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Ronda. The village has all amenities including schools and medical centre.

Humilladero is located 15 minutes from the beautiful Roman city of Antequera and 45minutes from Málaga and the airport. Granada airport is 60 minutes away. It is also 10 minutes from the new high speed train station with access to Málaga (15 minutes) Cordoba (30 minutes) and Madrid (21/2 hours).

The patron saint's festivities of the Virgin of the Rosary are celebrated on the 7th of October. On the 24th of June is the San Juan fair and the first week of August is the so called emigrant’s fair, homage to those who years ago left the location in search of work.

Humilladero is a typically laid-back Spanish village. There is an assortment of small shops including a bakers and 3 mini supermarkets only a short stroll away and the weekly Spanish market not much further. There are several bars and restaurants including an Indian, steakhouse and Italian pizza, some offering a takeaway service. A BBQ area at the top of the village where the pine trees start hosts families at the weekend where children can run free and play. Other swing play areas are scattered around.

There is a modern health centre in the village and a first class modern hospital in Antequera 15 minutes down the road.

Fiesta and Ferria (Party week for whole village) are obligatory and you can support the local football team which I have been told can be good fun, especially when playing the neighbouring villages.

The nearest village is Fuente de Piedra , famous for its flamingo lake is only a 3 minute car ride away.

Only about 35 minuets from Malaga airport, thanks to the new road Humilladero is handily placed for arriving visitors.

Antequera Golf Course is only 15 minutes down the road and is considered one of the best in the area and offers very good value.  There are several English societies that play on different days offering rounds for 25 euros including buggy and are very social events. Membership to course is also easily obtained.

With Coastal beaches in 35 minutes, Granada and Cordoba an hours drive, Siera Navada for skiing one and a half hours and several other local sites of beauty Humilladero is handily placed out of the hurly burly tourist area.
