Puente Genil is centrally located between Seville Granada and Malaga, each being just over 1 hour away by road. It is near the High Speed rail line that serves Malaga and Madrid with Malaga being 40 minutes by train. It is within minutes of Major Motorway Routes to all parts of Spain. Airports are just over an hour away which makes access reasonable.
The town has a population of about 35,000 which makes the town large enough to have all the facilities you need including a recently built hospital, but not too large to lose its small town charm. The Local Authorities continue each year to carry out improvements to maintain and continually keep the town looking well maintained.
For anyone wishing to Winter Ski or Snow Board the Sierra Nevada mountain range is just over 1 hour away. The Ancient City of Córdoba is about 40 minutes away, the city has many places of interest.
So far as the weather is concerned whilst the summers can be very hot, you do not get the humid atmosphere that you sometimes get on the coast. In the winter it can get cold at night but during the day the temperatures can be fairly warm. The price of general commodities (particularly eating out) is generally cheaper than those on the coast as the economy is not based upon the tourist trade.
Puente Genil is quite famous for the "Semana Santa” (Holy Week), the Easter processions that last for about 10 days with the main procession taking place on Good Friday and in August is the "Ferria”, a weeklong Fun Fair. In December the town has the Best Christmas Lights in Spain, the reason for this is the company that provide the Lights manufacture them locally and they are displayed in Puente Genil before then being used as the display in Madrid or Barcelona.
