The small town of Rute (pop. 10,000) boasts a range of bars and restaurants plus two hotels. It also has an excellent supermarket with drive-in parking. The lakes of Iznajar are but 20 minutes drive with the Alhambra Palace in Granada around 90 minutes by car. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada is within two hours drive and the beaches and nightlife of the Costa can be reached in just over one hour, with Malaga’s international airport also an hour away.
